Ode to Fire

Heat that burns,
And gives off warmth,
Protects me from icy chill.
It dances,
And hisses,
Like serpent tongues.
Fire is life as well as destruction,
Growing bigger,
Consuming all in its path.
It’s awesome power,
Hypnotizes all before it.
The reds,
And yellows,
And oranges,
And blues,
Command my respect and attention.
Melts away cold,
And shields,
Away the darkness.
My cold skin,
Becomes toasty,
And warm.
The icy cold,
Of the outside world,
Becomes forgotten,
In my mind.
