Spenserian Sonnet

The light of the lighthouse goes out
Everything becomes dark
The captain is in doubt
Where is the landmark?

The only light comes from stars, like sparks
The captain knew not what to do
Let's follow the stars, the first mate remarks
We can reference the charts for a clue

We're on the wrong course! he shouts to the crew
We are heading towards the rocks!
The anchor is cast in the sea, so blue
The crew waits, while sitting on blocks

Finally, the sun rises in the sky
So they sail away, saying goodbye

  1. This is a really good poem! I like the wording and the flow and the imagery is really good, too.
