Take a Guess



The air in the room is thrumming with the noise of computers. Students twitch in their steats. The clock ticks noisily. The posters are bright against the walls, all wanting to be read. Every little sound can be heard. A cough, a shoe hitting the floor. The drop of a pen echoes. Students drumming their fingers impatiently waiting for the bell to ring. The clock spins out of control.


It holds thousands of words that prepare you for anything. Always handle with care. Familiar object we've used all of our lives. Everyone uses one. No tricks or suprises in this book. All of it common knowledge. Non-toxic pages. Easy to use guide-never taking a chance.


He's cold, his eyes lacking emotion. His boots meant for cracking the skulls of his students. The vests he wears hold his many tools for torture including duct tape and glittery pencils. Gel holds his dark hair in place, the hair which matches the color of his soul.


Can you figure out the emotions in these?

  2. I thought all of your description was very good. It was also very creative. The detail wasn't very repetitive and it wasn't boring. I think the emotion in the first paragraph is anticipation. It talks about the clock ticking and students drumming their fingers impatiently which leads you to believe the students are waiting to leave the class. The details in the second paragraph were also good and creative. I liked the non-toxic pages detail. I think that is something most people wouldn’t think of. I think the emotion in the second paragraph is admiration. It says ‘it holds thousands of words to prepare you for anything’ which sounds like the author is admiring such a wonderful book. In the third paragraph, I think the emotion is not what you would think. I don’t think the emotion is scared. Instead I think the emotion is ridiculous, like you can’t believe what you are writing. For example, ‘His boots meant for cracking the skulls of his students’ sounds ridiculous to me.
